Pokémon TCG announces bright stars as next set

The Collectible Letters of Pokémon have officially announced Brilliant Stars, a new set that will arrive at 2022 and that will present the new VSTAR mechanics. The new set will be officially launched on February 25, 2022 and will contain more than 170 cards, including 4 Pokemon VSTAR cards and 3 Pokemon VMAX cards. VSTAR mechanics acts as a combination of VMAX mechanics and GX view mechanics during the era of sun and moon cards. Each VSTAR Pokémon has a VSTAR power, a movement or skill that can only be used once per game. Some VSTAR powers give players the ability to search for specific letters in their decks, while others are powerful attacks capable of knocking up almost any Pokémon.

Two confirmed Pokémon to have Pokémon VStar cards on the next set are Charizard and Arceus. It seems that they join whimsicott and shaymin, who also appear in the illustrations of the reinforcement package. In addition, Glaceon and Leafaon will also receive vStar cards in separate boxes that will also be launched at the beginning of 2022. The game will be launched through standard reinforcement packages, as well as boxes and cans elite trainer.

In particular, Brilliant Stars will also bring back the letters «Character Rare», a subset of 30 rare alternative art charts with illustrations that represent Pokémon along with iconic coaches of games.

Interestingly, the set of bright stars does not mention the Vunion cards, the other letters mechanics recently introduced. To date, these letters have only appeared in boxes and have not been released into normal reinforcement packages. The Pokémon Vunion are powerful Pokémon with multiple attacks and skills. You can only play by combining four cards when the four have reached the pile of discarding a player.
