Nintendo reduces the price of switch in Europe
After several reports indicating that a pricing cut was imminent, Nintendo has officially announced that the Nintendo Switch base model will have a lower standard price, anyway in Europe and the United Kingdom. The reason given by Nintendo for the price reduction is that, with the next release of the new Nintendo Switch OLED and other factors, it was decided that now it was the right time to lower the price.
More specifically, the new price of the Nintendo Switch base model in the United Kingdom and Europe has been reduced to £ 259.99 and € 299.99, respectively. Previously, the Nintendo Switch was set at £ 279.99 and € 329.99. For the sake of comparison, the Nintendo Switch OLED will cost € 364.99 in Europe and € 309.99 in the United Kingdom. The new price is already visible in Nintendo's own store, and although retailers are not subject to Nintendo's prices, most of them are likely to follow it. At this time, there is no information about whether pricing cut will be reflected in North America.
Nintendo de Europa is changing the European commercial price of the Nintendo Switch console to retailers, said a spokesman for Nintendo. He told Eurogamer in a statement proportionate. «More than four and a half years after its first launch, Nintendo Switch continues to have a strong sales impulse in Europe. After carefully weighing a variety of factors, including currency exchange rates in Europe and the next launch of Nintendo Switch - model OLED, we decided that it was now the right time to change the European commercial price of Nintendo Switch «.
In particular, the complete statement also indicated that the prices of Nintendo Switch Lite and Nintendo Switch (OLED model) would not be affected by the change in the price of the Nintendo Switch base model.
As noted above, the new price of Nintendo Switch is already current for Europe and the United Kingdom. In North America, the Nintendo Switch (OLED model) will be launched on October 8 with a suggested retail price of $ 349.99. The base model of Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch Lite are available wherever such things are sold, if you can find them in stock. You can check all our previous Nintendo coverage right here.
